Makoto Iimura
Makoto Iimura (飯村惇) is the representative member of HiMaWaRi LLC (HiMaWaRi合同会社), a management advisory firm in Kamimeguro, Tokyo, a short walk from Nakameguro Station. He works with owners of small and mid-sized companies in Japan where every decision still goes through the owner, and helps them put the criteria behind those decisions into words so that their teams and AI tools can apply them.
What he does
Most of the owners he works with run companies that are already profitable. The business has grown, but the final call on almost everything still lands on the owner's desk. In his view, hiring a "right-hand person" or buying an AI tool rarely fixes this on its own, because the owner's way of deciding is rarely written down.
His work starts there. He sits in on real decisions, writes down how the owner decides, and then passes those criteria on to the people and AI systems that will use them. The engagements include:
- Sitting in on management decisions as a dedicated advisor
- Turning the owner's decision criteria into written rules that staff and AI can follow
- Building an AI assistant trained on the owner's decision criteria to handle routine judgments
- Redesigning which roles are handled by people and which by AI
He also uses "36 Types", a personality framework developed in-house, to describe each owner's decision-making habits.
